R&D – from minute Components to vast Impacts

In addition to the international Research Centre SGR in France, NWR&D in USA and SGRS in China, there are powerful R&D departments in all individual fields of activities – one of them is the Competence Centre for Superabrasives, located in Norderstedt.

Out of the 50 employees in R&D, 14 of them are in charge of research activities (7 graduated engineers with postgraduate education in chemistry, physics, material science, specialized in bonded-, metal- and vitrified abrasives; as well as surface chemistry).

The foundations for our strong position on the world market and our success in the main industrial markets are laid by the R&D Centres: Synergic effects deriving from international and comprehensive cooperation are utilized effectively.

Numerous laboratories (metallographic, electroplating, chemical, vitrified and resin bond laboratories) offer the latest equipment for developing new products. These can be examined comprehensively with light and electron microscopy, from mechanical to chemical testing devices.
